What is boba (tapioca pearls)?
Boba are small, round, gummy balls that sit at the bottom of teas, milk teas and smoothies. They can provide a delicious and unique texture to any drink.
Cassava root is the main ingredient of boba, also known as tapioca pearls.
Is your product gluten free?
Yes, our loose leaf teas, premium boba and milk base are gluten free.
Do your ingredients have known allergens?
The Milk Base contains milk protein. The boba contains sulfites.
How can I increase the sweetness for my boba?
We recommend adding more brown sugar or honey to your boba and let it sit in your choice of sweetener for longer.
Why does my boba not come out softer?
Please follow the Recipe Guide provided in your kit and be sure to use the correct amount of water.
-
If you are using a gas stove, use 4 cups of water to cook the boba instead of 2 cups for an electric stove.
-
If you prefer a softer boba texture, cook the boba on medium heat for 35 minutes and let it sit covered on the stove for 35 minutes.
Why does your boba take longer to cook?
Throughout our search for a premium boba product, we discovered that boba with a cook time of 15 minutes or less will not produce the chewy, yet soft consistency that you find in the most popular boba shops. We chose the product with a higher cook time because we believe that the boba quality will satisfy our customers' higher standards.
What are ways to make the tea flavor stronger or less strong?
You can use a little more loose leaf tea when brewing for a stronger tea or use a little less than the recommended amount for a less stronger taste.
How can I change the level of sweetness for my drink?
Please refer to our Sweetness Level chart on our Recipe Guide. You can also adjust more or less according to your taste.
Should the water temperature be at a certain temperature to brew the tea leaves?
We suggest between 160-180 F° to avoid blistering the tea leaves.
Are there options to make hot drinks?
Although our original Recipe Guide call for an iced drink, we will be providing tips and tricks along with different ways to make other variations of our drinks on our social channels and website. Make sure you subscribe to our email list and follow us @kassavaco on Instagram.
What can I use if I don't buy the the Milk Base?
We love our lactose free Milk Base for making boba milk tea, but also want to allow options for those who prefer different types of milk. Please refer to our Recipe Guide for measurements and options using other liquid milks or condensed milk.
